AN ON BAST & MACIEJ FORTUNA is a duo of remarkably talented and charismatic personalities and the meeting of music genres – jazz and electronic music. The artists created the genre of processingbop which consists in live processing of the sounds of an acoustic instrument. During the performance the sounds of a trumpet are modified by special software, recorded, edited and looped. Due to that, their timbre changes and the concert becomes and a unique experience. They perform live what has been to date possible only in recording studios, improvising, responding to the situation, presence of the second musician and audience.
An on Bast is a composer, performer, producer, one of the most significant female figures of Polish electronic music. So far she has recorded five albums, she gives numerous concerts and performs at the most important festivals of electronic music around the world. She also provides sounds to films and animations. She is the author of electronic transcriptions of Igor Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring” and the works of such artists as Fryderyk Chopin, Henryk Wieniawski and Krzysztof Penderecki.
Maciej Fortuna is a trumpet player and composer, one of the most talented and versatile Polish jazz musicians of the young generation. He is the architect and founder of Fortuna Music Multimedia Improvisation Studio. He also runs a record label and teaches at the Academy of Music in Poznań.
