On Friday 28 June 2013, in the Old Gasworks in Poznań, Kraftwerk will play their first and only 3D concert in Poland.

The KRAFTWERK project was founded in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider within the experimental art scene of the Late Sixties in Düsseödorf, Germany. They set up their legendary Kling Klang Studio where they produced and recorded all their groundbreaking albums Autobahn (1974), Radio-Activity (1975), Trans Europe Express (1977), The Man-Machine (1978), Computer World (1981), Techno Pop (1986), The Mix (1991) Tour de France (2003) Minimum-Maximum ( 2005).

With their visions of the future, KRAFTWERK created the soundtrack for the digital age of the 21 st century. Their revolutionary electronic "sound paintings" and their musical experimentation with computer generated sounds and images have had a major international influence across a wide range of musical genres, from Electro to Hip Hop , from Techno to Synthpop . The mark of the KRAFTWERK influence is endless.....

That KRAFTWERK are playing their 3-D concert at the Malta Festival is no coincidence. Their oeuvre fits in perfectly with the idiom, i.e. the guiding theme, of this year’s festival, which is oh man, oh machine / człowiek-maszyna. The programme, which will explore the human/machine and human/technology relationships, will be developed by one of the most important European artists working at the intersection of theatre, performance art and visual arts, the Italian Romeo Castellucci. KRAFTWERK, who pioneered the musical and visual concept of the “MAN-MACHINE” since the Seventies and foresaw the concept of trans-humanism, are an icon, whose impact does not just sit within music. KRAFTWERK’S unique on-stage presentation and complex, and experimental multimedia projections during their live shows, are as distinctive and inspiring as the music itself.

KRAFTWERK first appeared at the Venice Biennale in 2005, and since then they have ventured further into the realm of the visual arts. This can be seen as a return to their sources from the Düsseldorf art scene of the Late Sixties. The KRAFTWERK RETROSPECTIVE 12345678 at the Museum of Modern Art ( MoMA ) in New York in April 2012 with a series of eight 3 D performances was a huge success.

In 2013 Kraftwerk returned to their roots and their hometown Düsseldorf with performances of KRAFTWERK -THE CATALOGUE 12345678 at the Kunstsammlung K20. When KRAFTWERK were announced at the Turbine Hall of the Tate Modern in London the enormous demand for tickets broke down the ticket system!

The Malta Festival Poznań in June will present KRAFTWERK 3-D featuring compositions from all KRAFTWERK albums for one evening only.

We greatly look forward to seeing you at this amazing concert in Poznań and at the whole festival.

KRAFTWERK’s concert will be staged on 28 June 2013 during Malta Festival Poznań 2013 (24 June - 20 July 2013). Tickets are available here.
