  • The show Mush-Room is an oneiric, surrealist session in which the world requests us to set free our minds and imagination. In a forest full of mushrooms growing upside down, some absurd, unreal creatures, animals resembling people and humanoid personas are wandering around, evoking an uncontrollable feeling of loss and passing. Mush-room is to be, however, an act of opposition to melancholy and a destructive feeling of the end. Out of equal elements - music, images, dance and word - Grace Ellen Barkey creates a living composition - weird, disconcerting, full of teasing poetry, kindling the imagination. The legendary, avant-garde band The Residents plays an extraordinary role in the show. The unpredictable masters of pop-culture irony composed music specially for the project. The music introduces a psychedelic, mysterious aura, accompanying the strong visual side of the show.

  • GRACE ELLEN BARKEY urodziła się w indonezyjskim Surabaja, studiowała taniec w Amsterdamie. W 1986 roku założyła wraz z Janem Lauwersem kolektyw artystyczny NEEDCOMPANY, z którym związana jest do dziś. Jest aktorką i choreografką, autorką kilkunastu własnych spektakli i instalacji, m.in. AND (2003), Chunking, The Porcelain Project, This door is too small (for a bear) (2010).
