  • The artists say that the Diamond Version project has been born spontaneously, during a joint encore after solo performances. The improvised concerts always would have extraordinary energy which was lacking in their independent work. Diamond Versionis a refined and touching audiovisual event which trangresses the boundary between what is the instict and the concept; the experience from a modern art gallery and a club. The project results from the joint interest of Noto and Bytone in loud techno, minimalist constructions and their scientific approach. Diamond Version is also a series of musical performances called by the critics a perfect example of digital creativity without limitations.

  • The creators of an audiovisual project Diamond Version are the artists associated with the German record company Raster Noton, which gathers independent electronic music artists. ALVA NOTO (Carsten Nicolai, founder of the company) and BYETONE (Olaf Bender, graphic designer, co-founder of the company) explore together the aesthetic areas of minimalistic rhymes and harsh sounds. They created their own recognizable visual and sound language, thanks to which they are now considered key figures on the arena of experimental electronic music. Alva Noto cooperated
with a number of artists, including Ryoji Ikeda and Michael Nyman with whom he wrote the opera Sparkie: Cage and Beyond. He is also a visual artist. Applying the principles of cymatics (the study of sound waves), he illustrates sound with elements of painting and sculpture. He is interested
in the notions of limitation and beauty, which can exist only within logical, scientific systems. Alva Noto performed and exhibited his works in many galleries around the world, including Guggenheim Museum in New York, Tate Modern in London and on Biennale in Venice.
